SCENE 01 / VIRTUAL REALITY FILMING
Virtual Reality Filming
Professional 360 video and immersive VR content production across Iceland.
Here is how this works in practice. Virtual reality filming produces fully immersive 360-degree content designed for VR headsets, placing viewers inside the scene with six degrees of freedom. This format demands specialized multi-lens camera arrays, spatial audio capture, and careful staging to create compelling experiences that leverage VR's unique strengths.
Here is the short of it. We set up VR filming projects with specialized camera systems, spatial audio rigs, and skilled immersive content crews. Our team manages the complete tech pipeline from capture through post-prod, making sure your VR content delivers a seamless, comfortable viewing experience on target headset platforms.

Our VR filming crews capture immersive Iceland for headset experiences — placing viewers inside the Þingvellir rift valley, beneath Vatnajökull glacier and under the aurora.
Here is how this works in practice. We deliver virtual reality filming as a complete production service, capturing immersive content built for headset viewing where the viewer is placed inside an Icelandic environment rather than looking at it. Our crews run high-resolution stereoscopic and spherical VR camera kits, plan stitch lines and viewer eyelines for a comfortable immersive experience, and manage the central challenge of VR capture — keeping crew, support gear and cables out of a frame that records in each direction. We plan spatial and ambisonic audio so the soundscape matches the immersive image.
Here is the short of it. We handle stitching, stabilisation and delivery for VR headsets and immersive sites. Iceland's conditions drive the planning: weather protection for unattended rigs in wind and spray, warmed batteries, condensation control on many lenses, and shooting in the seasonal light window that suits the scene. We staff from the skilled Reykjavík crew base and bring in extra VR camera kits and immersive-post pros from the UK and mainland Europe for larger projects.
Here is the breakdown. Iceland is outstanding source material for virtual reality. A subarctic island on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, it gives environments that genuinely surround a viewer — standing in the rift valley at Þingvellir National Park where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart, beneath the ice of Vatnajökull, among the lava of Dimmuborgir at Mývatn, or under the aurora borealis in winter. These are places where VR's immersive format adds something a flat frame cannot. The country's draw as a tourism and cultural destination makes immersive content a natural fit.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. The fast-changing subarctic weather is the central scheduling factor. Filming in covered areas such as Þingvellir is set up with the Environment Agency of the country, with crews keeping rigs and footfall off fragile moss and lava. Eligible crew and gear spend can count toward the country's production reimbursement of 25 per cent, rising to 35 per cent for qualifying projects, administered by Film in the country.
FAQ
VR Production Expertise
What VR cameras do you use?
We work with pro 360 camera systems including Insta360 Titan, Kandao Obsidian, and RED-based custom rigs. We select cameras based on your resolution needs, stereoscopic needs, and project budget.
Can you create stereoscopic 3D VR?
Yes, we produce both monoscopic (2D 360) and stereoscopic (3D 360) content. Stereoscopic gives greater depth and immersion but needs more complex capture and post-prod. We'll recommend the best way for your content.
What about spatial audio?
We capture spatial audio using ambisonic microphone arrays that record sound from all directions. In post-prod, we mix spatial audio that responds to viewer head movement, creating a complete immersive experience.
Which VR platforms can you deliver for?
We deliver content optimized for all major VR platforms including Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, PlayStation VR, and PC VR headsets. We also prepare content for web-based 360 players and social media 360 video.
What makes VR filming different?
VR needs different production ways—the entire 360 sphere is visible, there's no 'off-camera' space to hide crew and gear. Directors guide attention rather than controlling frame. We manage these unique challenges.
Can you film at Iceland landmarks?
Here is the breakdown. Yes, we arrange VR filming at iconic Icelandic locations from the Northern Lights to glacier lagoons to volcanic wonders. We handle permits, manage the unique needs of 360 filming in public spaces, and make sure pro results.
