Here is how this works in practice. Our team designs and delivers integrated wireless systems that keep a whole production connected: wireless intercom and IFB, audio hops, follow-focus links and wireless video, all planned together so departments never fight for range. We start with a RF survey of each location, allocate and document frequencies across each system, and register range use with Fjarskiptastofa, the Electronic Communications Office of Iceland, where needed.

Here is the short of it. The country's dispersed exteriors put real demands on a comms plan: a crew can be spread across a Highland valley at Landmannalaugar or a long stretch of black-sand coast at Reynisfjara, so we deploy repeaters, antenna distribution and beltpacks sized to the geography. Core wireless stock comes from the skilled Reykjavik rental base. For large multi-department shoots we supplement intercom matrices, RF gear and spares from suppliers in the UK and mainland Europe under ATA carnet, since the country is outside the EU customs union. Each unit is weatherproofed against wind, cold, blowing grit and meltwater, bench-tested, and backed by on-call RF support across the shoot.

Here is the breakdown. Iceland's geography shapes each wireless plan. It is a large, sparsely populated subarctic island on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, around 103,000 square kilometres with roughly 390,000 people, and crews routinely work miles from the nearest road on terrain that shadows and reflects RF: the rift walls of Thingvellir, lava fields around Myvatn, glacier basins below Vatnajoekull. The upside is a far less congested range than dense urban countries, so set up systems can run cleanly once surveyed.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. The country is not an EU member but belongs to the EEA, EFTA and Schengen, and its RF range is covered nationally by Fjarskiptastofa. Weather changes fast, so gear is built to take wind, cold and spray, and the Highlands are reachable only in summer via F-roads needing 4x4 super-jeeps. Productions from 'Game of Thrones' to 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' have set up large crews across these landscapes, where dependable wireless infrastructure is what holds a unit together.
