Concealment matters in the country: lavalier rigs must be hidden under heavy weatherproof costume for cold-weather scenes, kept dry against spray and meltwater, and covered from blowing volcanic grit. We give subminiature lavs, moisture protection and trusted mounting, and condition transmitter batteries for the cold. Wireless stock comes from the skilled Reykjavik rental base. For large casts we supplement transmitters, receivers and antenna gear from suppliers in the UK and mainland Europe under ATA carnet, since the country sits outside the EU customs union. Each unit is bench-tested. We carry backup channels because a remote Highland location is hours from any replacement.

Here is the breakdown. Iceland's RF environment is, in most of the country, refreshingly quiet. Outside Reykjavik the island is sparsely populated, with little of the dense broadcast and mobile congestion that crowds the range in larger countries. This can make clean wireless channels easier to find at remote sites like Landmannalaugar, Myvatn or the Vatnajoekull glacier. The trade-off is site-level: lavs must survive driving wind on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, spray off Skogafoss and Gullfoss, glacial meltwater near Jokulsarlon, and rapid weather change.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Range can be tested by terrain, with rift walls at Thingvellir and lava fields shadowing signal, so antenna placement is planned per setup. The country is not in the EU but is part of the EEA, EFTA and Schengen, and its range rules are administered nationally by Fjarskiptastofa.
